MIAMI’S BEST
KEPT SECRET
Burlesque has taken over Miami’s best cozy spots! Shameless Burlesque, Miami’s only functioning troupe has a very distinct quality of clever innocence mixed with good clean naughtiness! The founder of Shameless Burlesque, Holly Peño, belongs to a troupe in Chicago called Eves Parlor, and felt her dream of a successful troupe could be accomplished in the beautiful city of Miami. Encouraged by the support of her brothers in the Miami based Spirit Enhancers Society for professional bartenders, she went for the gusto and created a show. The title of the debut show was, “A VaudeVille Vibe”, going back to the roots of Burlesque. Many people were waiting for burlesque to come to Miami and the debut show of Shameless Burlesque at Churchills on May 20th, 2008, was a smashing success with a packed house! Since its debut show Shameless Burlesque has held over 50 shows, ranging from Churchills, Tobacco Road, Kitchen 305, and Off the Hookah, etc. Shameless Burlesque has made countless guest appearances, ranging from A Fish Called Avalon to private Birthday Parties. You can catch Shameless Burlesque every 3rd Wednesday of the month _ Purdy Lounge with its full length show. The Ladies make special appearances _ Blue on SoBe, every Friday. Look at this month’s calendar for more dates!
Burlesque around the country has taken on a circus feel, while performing the art of strip-tease. In Shameless Burlesque, the Troupe takes a more old school feeling, going back to Zorita, Lili St. Cyr, Sherry Britton, Betty Rowland, and Sally Rand. The show consists of three to four performers with the art of strip-tease, comedy, live music, DJ’s, magicians, cigarette girls, and a few surprises with each show.
Shameless Burlesque’s goal is to bring old-school into the new, by keeping it sexy, glamorous and feminine. Come check out Shameless Burlesque, where grown-ups come to play.
